Axiom Foods' Oryzatein becomes first rice protein to earn GRAS approval
Approved for use in food grade products as a replacement for, and in conjunction with, soy and whey protein
Axiom Foods' Oryzatein has become the first brown rice protein to be granted Generally Recognised as Safe (GRAS) approval.
Achieving this standard follows on the heels of a double-blind clinical trial which showed that the protein mirrors animal-based whey in building and repairing muscle.
GRAS approval demonstrates Axiom's superiority in tests of safety regarding its processing, constituents and exposure to consumers.
The approval was granted for use of the plant-based protein in food grade products as a replacement for, and in conjunction with, soy and whey protein.
Oryzatein is used in beverages, baked goods, confectionery, dietetics, nutraceuticals, sports nutrition and other products requiring functional food properties.
