Allma organic Chlorella vulgaris, a plant-based protein by Allmicroalgae, was recognised with the Product Innovation award at the 10th annual Food & Nutrition Awards, held online.
The organic powder is produced in closed photobioreactors and contains essential amino acids. It contains high levels of fibre, protein and vitamins, including vitamin B12, in addition to ALA. Additionally, it’s sugar, gluten, lactose, GMO and soy free, contains no pesticide and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
The powder can be used as an ingredient or supplement in applications including food & beverage and animal feed, or as a biofertilise and biostimulant in agriculture, and can also be used in cosmetic formulations.
In March 2018, the product achieved EU organic certification. Allmicroalgae is the largest European producer of the powder and its only Portuguese producer.
Previously co-organised by the Portuguese Association of Nutritionists, the Food & Nutrition Awards were supported this year by VdA, one of the country’s largest law firms.
