French biotech company Activ’Inside has announced the latest developments from its Silver Brain Food research project.
In collaboration with the NutriNeuro and Bordeaux Population Health university laboratories, the project aims to develop local, personalised solutions, products and services that prevent cognitive decline in the elderly through a nutrient-rich diet.
Since the project’s official launch on April 1, 2021, three studies on brain health have been finished and an additional seven are currently in progress. Each of these studies involve the composition and formulation of Memophenol, Safr’Inside and other actives and aim to observe their effects on specific cognitive and emotional health markers. Activ’Inside plans for several of these to be published within the first half of 2023.
The Silver Brain Food project is a valuable opportunity to extend general understanding of neotropics and improve product and service offerings as younger consumers continue to actively seek out nutraceuticals as proactive methods to prevent cognitive decline and improve performance.
With this research, we plan to develop a range of high-density, neuro-nutritional foods and extensive nutritional coaching programs
“Research consistently shows that what we choose to consume has a far-reaching impact across many facets of health and we believe that the Silver Brain Food project is key to improving the long-term cognitive function of populations across the world,” said Benoit Lemaire, CEO and Co-Founder. “With this research, we plan to develop a range of high-density, neuro-nutritional foods and extensive nutritional coaching programs that will help consumers to take preventative action against cognitive decline.”
Prior to the project’s funding and launch, Activ’Inside initiated and completed two studies (pre-clinical and human clinical) that showed significant reduction in human cognitive decline by incorporating high quantities of polyphenols, a naturally occurring compound found in foods like berries, into people’s diets. Activ’Inside also conducted an epidemiological study on polyphenols and brain health, observing the relationship between diet and depression. This research into polyphenols led to the development and launch of Activ’Inside’s Memophenol ingredient and is the scientific foundation of the Silver Brain Food project. With a total budget of €16.3 million, the Silver Brain Food project is planned to continue through 2025.
Activ’Inside has already begun to use the data it has collected to educate consumers through its Silver Brain Food app. By leveraging proven science and recommendations from a team of medical experts, users are able to access personal coaching applications that help to ameliorate cognitive health and emotional wellbeing. The app’s content will continue to be updated as more research is completed as part of the project.
