GOED, the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s, and Sociedad Nacional de Pesquería have signed a joint partnership agreement, acknowledging the role the Peruvian anchovy fishery plays in the omega-3 industry, which is the core of GOED’s business activities.
Under terms of the agreement, 11 key Peruvian fishing companies, all members of the Sociedad, will become members of GOED. GOED’s mission is to promote the consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3s around the world and the Peruvian anchovy fishery is of major importance to omega-3s, the organisation says.
Ellen Schutt, Executive Director of GOED, said: “Having the backing of Peruvian fishing companies is very important to GOED. Both GOED and SNP are focused on supporting the Peruvian anchovy business and we believe our common commitment, which brought this partnership to life, will help grow the category overall.”
Cayetana Aljovin, SNP President, said: “Peru is poised to become a leader in the production of omega 3 in the world, thanks to the diversity of hydrobiological products offered by its sea. The alliance with GOED will allow us to achieve that goal. We are committed to the well-being of Peru and the world.”
