Factory in Norway has been producing world-class fish oil products for more than 15 years

Marine Ingredients' omega-3 production facility, acquired from chemical giant BASF in November 2014, is to be renamed Marine Ingredients. The factory in Brattvåg is considered to be one of Norway’s most capable omega-3 manufacturing plants, the Mount Bethel, PA, US-based company said.

Dave Eckert, Chief Commercial Officer at Marine Ingredients, said the manufacturing plant has been producing world class omega-3 for more than 15 years and its current production capacity and product quality is better than ever as a result of the significant investments BASF put into the factory.

The plant also has a Norwegian pharmaceutical licence, which is becoming more important as the industry becomes increasingly stringent about quality assurance.

Marine Ingredients says the acquisition of the plant from BASF has completed the company's transformation into a fully integrated omega-3 operation.

Todd Parker, Marine Ingredients’ Vice President of Business Development, said: 'Our new production facility allows us to serve our customers in a much more complete fashion. We can now custom craft premium omega-3 ingredients for our customers in North America and around the world and use these ingredients to produce proprietary softgel or liquid bottle formulas.'
