With this year’s Natural Products Expo West 2025 just round the corner, many key players in the nutraceutical industry are adorning their most comfortable shoes ready to hit the ground running at the event in Anaheim, California. With more than 3,000 exhibitors scheduled to attend the event, a wide range of brands will come to the show with news to share. Whether that be new product launches, facility expansions, recent clinical research or technological developments; companies from the natural ingredient space will be sure to share the scoop.
With so many industry developments occurring alongside this key trade show, NBR got the scoop from ADM, Gnosis by Lesaffre, Kyowa Hakko, Kerry, Nuritas, PLT Health, Gencor, Cepham, GC Rieber VivoMega, Wiley Companies, Nutraland, Layn Natural Ingredients, Sabinsa and NXT USA.
New ingredient launches
At this year’s expo, many companies are introducing novel ingredients covering a wide range of market niches, some great examples include:
- Gencor’s Trpti: This Oleoylethanolamide (OAE) ingredient is a fatty acid ethanolamide designed to support metabolic health and help users in managing their weight. The nutraceutical can activate PPAR-α, which encourages fat breakdown, while also curbing food intake and stimulating the release of GLP-1.
- Wiley Companies’ AlaskOmega Omega-7: A skin health ingredient rich in polluck-derived palmitoleic acid, the formulation is available in 50 to 70% concentrations. According to the company, it’s up to 7x more potent than other omega-7 formulations on the market, and has been clinically proven to reduce wrinkles, promote skin elasticity and help with moisture retention.
- GC Rieber VivoMega’s Algae 1060 TG Premium: The latest algae-derived DHA + EPA ingredient from GC Reiber, Algae 1060 TG Premium is designed as a solution for customers looking for an affordable, high-quality omega-3 oil for their formulation.
- Nuritas’ PeptiSleep: A rice bran peptide ingredient developed through Nuritas’ proprietary AI technology, PeptiSleep is designed to support sleep health — increasing sleep time by up to 35 minutes in a recent clinical trial.
- Cepham’s Life Phases and Stages Blends (LPAS): This ingredient range hones in on the growing personalised nutrition trend, signed to address nutritional needs at critical life milestones. The pre-formulated blends can assist users in all phases of life, from adolescence to adulthood and ageing.
- NXT USA’s Xeya Shatavari: A reimagined Ayurvedic ingredient, Xeya Shatavari is designed to support women’s health by offering hormonal management at any life stage. From menstruation to menopause, the nutraceutical is designed to help women feel their best.
Kyowa Hakko will also debut its novel protein bar, which was created in tandem with MOSH, a brain-focused brand owned by Maria Shriver and Patrick Schwarzenegger. The recently reformulated bar contains Kyowa’s branded citicoline ingredient, Cognizin — which has been shown to support focus, attention, memory and mental energy.
Novel research
Brands have also been busy researching the benefits of their ingredients, and are here to present them at this year’s Natural Products Expo West.
- Nuritas will be sharing the results of a pilot study involving its new ingredient PeptiSleep in more detail at the event, which has been proven to enhance sleep metrics and boost sleep time by up to 35 minutes. Researchers believe the nutraceutical exhibits its effects through the modulation of the stress hormone cortisol.
- Plant-based ingredient specialist Nutraland will share details on two new studies conducted by the Center for Applied Health Sciences on its rice germ polyamine ingredient, Miricell. The first found the ingredient could simulate the effects of fasting and positively impact cardiometabolic markers, while the second touted its potential as a cognitive support.
- PLT Health will have a few new studies on cognition and active nutrition to present at the show — though its trial on its stress-relieving grains of paradise extract, Vanizem, will be its latest. The company will also highlight its new research into its nootropic mango extract Zynamite and its synergistic ashwagandha-haritaki blend, Spectramune.
- Alongside Xeya Shatavari’s debut at the expo, NXT USA will showcase all-new human clinical research that backs the ingredient’s efficacy in both women with PCOS and those experiencing perimenopausal symptoms. Throughout the 84 day supplementation period, Xeya reduced insulin resistance and testosterone, while normalising ovarian volume/follicle count and supporting metabolic health in the PCOS population. It also reduced the prevalence of hot flashes, brain fog and sleep difficulties, while boosting hair and skin quality in perimenopausal women during a 120 day study.
Other honourable mentions
Not all the big exhibitors will be debuting a new product or study, but there’s plenty going on to keep an eye out for. Notably, ADM has honed in on a new area of focus: the gut-brain axis. This follows the company’s recent agreement with food and beverage giant, Asahi Group, for the distribution of its stress-busting postbiotic, Lactobacillus gasseri CP2305. The nutra giant will display functional food concepts linked to the new focus, as well as ingredients for weight management and women’s health.
Furthermore, Gnosis by Lesaffre will display its novel range of nutritional yeasts for functional foods — including the vitamin B-fortified Red Star Nutritional Yeast, as well as its high selenium Lynside Forte Se+ Nutritional Yeast. The company’s experts will also be on hand to showcase its range of active ingredients, such as its LANDKIND salidroside solution for energy activation and the most clinically investigated vitamin K2 as MK-7 solution, MenaQ7.
Following its acquisition of the Ayurvedic supplement brand Nature’s Formulary in early February, Sabinsa will be showcasing its new range of finished products at a separate booth within the Consumer Goods segment of the floor. At its nutraceutical stand, the company will be exhibiting its range of industry-favourite ingredients and blends such as curcumin and ashwagandha, which are incorporated into formations targeting cognition, metabolic and gut health.
Another key industry player showing off their wide-spanning product range is the Kerry Group, which will exhibits its range of flavour solutions, as well as its natural ingredients portfolio — including its fan favourite, Sensoril ashwagandha and its skin health postbiotic, Plenibiotic, which was launched to the market in 2024. The company will also display some functional food and beverage products formulated with its ingredients, including a peach and passionfruit flavoured gummy created with Sensoril.
