A new study published in Marine Drugs has found that supplementation with Marinova's Undaria pinnatifida fucoidan nutraceutical may support brain health.1

The brown seaweed-derived polysaccharide has already been proven to benefit prostate and cardiovascular health, as well as companion animal gut and immune wellness.

Researchers at the University of Tasmania's School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology believe that fucoidan supplementation likely exhibits its neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects through its prebiotic activity in the gut, as well as its ability to address systemic inflammation.

This research extends the role of fucoidan as a targeted nutraceutical ingredient, suggesting that it may be a beneficial ingredient for incorporation into brain health-focused formulations.

To find out more about the study, the molecular mechanisms by which fucoidan protects the brain and the power of the polysaccharide in mitigating inflammation, NBR caught up with Marinova's Scientific Affairs Director, Dr Corinna Dwan.
