Hedonia has released a medical food that aims to address the mental health crisis by supporting the effects of antidepressant medications.
The dual capsule, which contains 85% concentration EPA, folic acid in the form of L-methylfolate and S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), is designed to stabilise a user's brain chemistry and boost serotonin levels.
By correcting nutrient imbalances, Hedonia could act as a prescrption-free solution to the management of depressive symptoms.
"There has never been a product like this before," said Dr Alexander Vuckovic, creator of Hedonia, psychiatrist, and psychopharmacologist with more than 40 years of clinical experience and expertise.
"I wanted to provide those with depression the unique nutritional support they need, and with Hedonia, we've created a solution that delivers the right ingredients, in the right way, to ensure it is effective."
Managing chronic conditions naturally
Mental health issues such as depression and anxiety have become increasingly common amongst the urban population, with Priory estimating that one in six Brits currently contend with this chronic illness.1
There are a wide range of therapeutics available for those with the condition, though some do not feel comfortable taking these types of medications, while others experience reduced efficacy because of a range of environmental and genetic factors.
Previous research has depicted the role of both nutritional imbalances and deficiencies in depression, so Dr Vuckovic set out to create a product that focuses on correcting these, as "little focus has been placed on nutrition-based solutions previously".
From this, he created Hedonia, which can be used as a complementary adjuvant therapy for those already taking antidepressants.
The company recommends that users take four capsules a day — two in the morning and two in the evening — to get the best results.
According to Alexander, the effects of the supplement will kick in within a few weeks.
The product is currently exclusively available at Hedonia's website.
"I truly believe that Hedonia is life changing for people with depression and will make millions feel better," said Dany Sfeir, CEO of Hedonia.
"If you're part of the one in five people who suffer from depression, it is important to know you are not alone and it is not your fault. We believe that Hedonia could be the solution for those looking to restore the balance in their lives, and who feel like there is something missing from their antidepressant regimen. Hedonia can help you feel like yourself again."
