The International Journal of Molecular Sciences has published a comprehensive review of metal-curcumin complexes, concluding the ingredients offer “multi-anti” effects and “great promise”.

Researchers reportedly found overwhelming evidence metal-curcumin complexes such as Zinc-Curcumin, found in Probiotic Smart’s TurmiZn-OS, not only help to overcome curcumin’s bioavailability limitation, but deliver health-supporting properties the researchers coined “multi-anti” effects.

The study, “Metal–Curcumin Complexes in Therapeutics: An Approach to Enhance Pharmacological Effects of Curcumin,” found the complexes have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial, as well as having neuroprotective and immunomodulatory properties. It found they also show improve pharmacological effects compared to curcumin alone, and increase the body’s ability to absorb both curcumin and zinc.

Probiotic Smart’s supplement is aimed at various disease states such as cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, neurological disorders, diabetes, and ulcers, the company says.

Nutraceutical researcher, Rajiv Lall, CEO of ProbioticSmart LLC, co-authored the study, along with scientists Dr Dan DuBourdieu, Dr Ajay Srivastava and Dr Prafulla Kumar. Curcumin expert, Dr Sahdeo Prasad from Noble Pharma, led the study.

“The future of these curcumin-metal complexes undoubtedly shows great promise for better treatment and prevention in a wide variety of health conditions,” the researchers said.
