The results showed that subjects assigned to receive the persimmon leaf extract saw a statistically significant reduction in mean blood pressure values
A study published in HealthMED has found that supplementation with a proprietary persimmon leaf extract from Nutraceuticals & Agriceuticals Technology Company (NATCO), called Persimonal, supports blood pressure and healthy cholesterol.
Subjects were evaluated at baseline, day 7, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 to get a blood pressure test or blood draw, or both, depending on their initial health evaluation.
In the placebo-controlled study, 86 male and female subjects between the ages of 40 and 75 years with borderline hypertension or borderline high total cholesterol or LDL were enrolled and assigned to take two capsules daily (150 mg in each capsule) of either the persimmon leaf extract or placebo for 180 days.
It is no wonder persimmon leaves have been an essential part of traditional medicine in Asia for centuries
The results showed that subjects assigned to receive the persimmon leaf extract saw a statistically significant reduction in mean blood pressure values compared to baseline at all study assessment timepoints for systolic and diastolic blood pressure, except day 7 for diastolic blood pressure. When it came to lipid profiles, subjects taking the persimmon leaf extract saw statistically significant reductions in the mean LDL and in mean total cholesterol compared to baseline at day 7, 60, 90, and 120 for LDL, and days 7, 30, and 120 for total cholesterol.
"We are pleased to announce these positive results of Persimonal to reduce blood pressure and lipids in the blood, further expanding our excitement about this high-quality product. It is no wonder persimmon leaves have been an essential part of traditional medicine in Asia for centuries," said Abdul Alkayali, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of NATCO.
