Baze’s Series A funding round was lead by Nature’s Way

Baze, the company behind the first blood-based, at-home nutritional testing kit offering high-quality subscription supplements, has announced the close of its US$6 million Series A round. The round was led by Nature’s Way, supplement a manufacturer with a focus on embracing the wisdom of traditional health practices to support modern health needs.

With the close of its Series A, Baze will expand its marketing efforts to educate consumers on the importance of truly personalised supplements, as well as expand its nutrient testing and supplement offerings.

Launched in 2018, Baze’s evidence-based approach sets the company apart from other direct-to-consumer and over the counter supplement companies by delivering truly personalised high-quality nutrients.

The Baze Starter Kit contains a convenient next-gen blood collection device designed at MIT that is currently used as part of a study to make its ease-of-use available more broadly. Baze will then recommend and provide specific supplements ensuring customers get exactly what they need, and none of the nutrients they don’t. Since launch, Baze’s user growth has averaged 40% month-over-month.

Baze’s “no more, no less” goes beyond the current supplementation practice by looking at the specific nutrient needs of the individual user. With 3 out of 4 Americans lacking in at least one vital nutrient, Baze offers a solution for all who want evidence-based guidance on how to take quick action to improve their overall health.

Based on Baze’s internal research, two-thirds of nutrient deficiencies were eliminated using their novel approach within the first 3 months of the programme. Showing this type of impact is a first for the supplement industry. Progress can be seen farther than just nutrient levels tracked via blood test results – Baze users reported additional benefits such as increased energy, reduced stress, improved sleep as well as time and money savings.

It’s recommended that users provide regular feedback and re-test their nutrient levels quarterly to enable dynamic adjustment and on-going personalisation.

“We are at a pivotal growth point for Baze – it’s exciting to see how our offerings are evolving with the needs of our consumers and the world. The partnership with Nature’s Way is an amazing stamp of approval from the quality leader in the US supplement market,” says Philipp Schulte, Co-Founder and CEO of Baze. “While we retain full independence, their support will be tremendous for making our mission of driving real health impact through truly personalised supplementation a reality.”

“The technology and research developments used in this product are a game-changer for the vitamin supplement industry,” says Mike Devereux, President and CEO of Nature’s Way. “The innovation behind Baze and the company’s determination to personalise a program that illustrates a baseline of nutrient compliance and creates the supporting vitamin protocols that assist in evolving to an even more optimal state of nutrient compliance is something we believe will help the consumer on their health journey. At Nature’s Way, we believe the most expensive supplement you will buy is the one that does not help you and our passion for assisting the wellness process is complemented by the Baze evidence-based approach.”
