Innova Market Insights has released its annual Top Ten Trends report. Thereport is designed to equip manufacturers, retailers and brands with insights to answer current consumer demands.
The 2021 report focuses on how the food and beverage industry has evolved in light of COVID-19.
Innova's research suggests the pandemic has bolstered focus on overall health and immunity, with consumers seeking foods and ingredients that support personal health. In the post-COVID landscape, firms will need to pay attention to how these behaviors shape the future of the food and beverage industry.
“Transparency throughout the supply chain will dominate in 2021, with consumers searching for brands that can build trust, provide authentic and credible products, and create shopper confidence in the current and post-COVID climate,” said Lu Ann Williams, Director of Insights and Innovation at Innova.
Innova's trends for 2021 are in response to the "ever-evolving and consumer-centric" food and beverage industry. The company predicts increasing consumer emphasis on supply chain transparency, plant-based items and personalised nutrition. Immune health, omnichannel eating and "nutrition hacking" are also set to rise in prominence this year according to the report.
