The company is working with farmers to promote the sustainable production of botanical extracts, while attempting to secure the supply chain of the traditional Ayurvedic ingredient, Bacopa monnieri

Natural Remedies, a company specialising in botanical-based nutraceuticals, has initiated its Herb Secure Programme.

The initiative assists the company in sourcing the herbs for its functional ingredients sustainably.

It also allows Natural Remedies to have full control over its supply chain.

The company is placing specific focus on good agricultural, collection, manufacturing, laboratory and quality practises — which has allowed it to win the CII-ITC Sustainability Award from the CESD.

Meanwhile, Natural Remedies has begun collaborating with farmers to promote the cultivation of sustainable medicinal herb rather than traditional crops.

It is doing this through a series of training endeavours, which aim to promote the benefits of growing such functional ingredients.

The company is specifically promoting the cultivation of Bacopa monnieri, a creeping herb native to India that can offer a number of cognitive health benefits.

Natural Remedies’ Chief Business Officer, Suresh Lakshmikanthan commented: “We partner with local communities, providing a reliable income stream for farmers and their families. Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the environment. Switching from traditional crops to Bacopa cultivation offers farmers a brighter future. We empower them with micro-financing, extensive training, as well as on-the-job training and support.”
