The allocation will allow Natural Remedies to contribute to ABC's HerbMedPro database, which gathers clinical evidence that outlines the benefits of a functional ingredient

Natural Remedies, a botanical healthcare company, has adopted holy basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum) through the nonprofit American Botanical Council’s Adopt-a-herb botanical research and education programme.

Holy basil is a member of the mint family and is native to India; though it’s currently grown in temperate climates globally. It’s a principal herb in traditional medicine, and is sometimes referred to as the ‘elixir of life’.

The ingredient is credited with being adaptogenic, antibacterial, antiseptic, antispasmodic and stimulating.

“We believe that through this adoption, we can contribute significantly to a deeper understanding of Holy Basil’s potential health benefits,” said Remedies’ Chief Business Officer, Suresh Lakshmikanthan. “We aim to raise awareness of Holy Basil’s medicinal properties and potential applications in modern health care, from its stress-relieving and antioxidant properties to its anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting effects."

"We also want to provide evidence-based information on its potential therapeutic applications, empowering consumers to make informed decisions about their health and wellness.”

Holixer, Natural Remedies’ patented Ocimum tenuiflorum bioctive, will be used to expand the ABC’s HerbMedPro database, which aims to document the benefits of various functional ingredients for those in the nutraceutical market.
