Cargill's TruPet postbiotic functional ingredient has been acknowledged as a unique and efficacious pet product at the Fi Europe Innovation Awards.
The awards, which coincide with the annual trade show at the Messe, Frankfurt, recognise both companies and products that are innovating in the food and nutrition space — with brands having the chance to win in nine different categories.
TruPet is a natural feed additive that acts as a postbiotic, and has been proven to support a companion animal's gut health and immunity through the gut microbiome.
According to Cargill, TruPet is also resilient to modern pet food processing techniques such as retorting, extrusion and high-pressure.
This means the functional ingredient can retain its efficacy and avoid the common challenges associated with incorporating nutraceuticals into pet food.
Dr. Mark Franklin from Cargill, commented, “The pet food industry has undergone a massive transformation in recent years. Pet parents now have more nutrition choices than ever and are adopting a ‘good for me, good for my pet’ mindset."
"To meet rapidly evolving consumer demands, Cargill’s TruPet ultra-concentrated postbiotic is a single ingredient that supports multiple health benefits that consumers highly value.”
At FiE 2024, Cargill was able to highlight several prototypes, with products ranging from functional foods to pet solutions — highlighting its continued investment into innovation.
