The distribution agreement covers a majority of Europe, and will provide these markets with access to EpiCor — a postbiotic derived from baker's yeast

Global functional ingredients and food company Cargill and Brenntag, an nutraceutical ingredients distributor, have signed an exclusive distribution agreement for Cargill's EpiCor postbiotic.

The agreement covers most of Europe, including the UK, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, the DACH region, BeNeLux, the Baltics, Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark.

What is EpiCor?

EpiCor is a postbiotic which is sourced from the fermentation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, or baker's yeast. The end product is a functional food with metabolites including proteins, vitamins, minerals, polyphenols and antioxidants.

EpiCor also meets the newly released definition of a postbiotic, as put forth by the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP) and its purpose as a possible gut health modulator is substantiated by more than a dozen published studies.

President Brenntag Specialties Nutrition EMEA, Frank Haven, said: “We are delighted to increase the scope of our alliance with Cargill on exclusive basis for EpiCor, a great postbiotic nutrition and dietary product. To the very important and intensely growing Nutritional Health, we bring the knowledge, infrastructure and creative innovation capabilities of Brenntag's Food and Nutrition team together with the overarching expertise of Cargill."

Director of Industry Market Management Brenntag Specialties Nutrition EMEA, Willem van Dam, adds: “We look forward to developing and broadening relationships with our existing and new customers with this new offer of EpiCor. This will meet the current needs of our customers as well as new product requirements and can generate new product development projects.”
