BI, a global full-service manufacturer of plant-based ingredients, has announced the successful renewal of its ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certification by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).
BI’s accreditation was expanded in scope to include both contaminants and safety measures specific to BI’s Identilok species identification testing.
“The renewal of our ISO 17025 accreditation demonstrates our commitment to sustaining the quality of our laboratory operations,” said Rupa Das, BI’s Vice President of Global Quality and Compliance.
“It is important for us to uphold the confidence of our customers with regard to the accuracy of our testing and reporting, as well as product safety. The accreditation demonstrates our technical competence and the ability of our laboratory operations to consistently produce precise and accurate test data."
"The expanded scope, which includes contaminants and product identification, provides further assurance for our customers of meeting their regulatory requirements. Product identification included DNA, which is integral to BI’s Identilok.”
Identilok is BI’s genus species testing process, which guarantees the highest levels of product purity, authenticity, and cleanliness. Identilok approved powders and extracts successfully pass all applicable identity tests, including, high-performance thin layer chromatography, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, microscopic image analysis, organoleptic testing and macroscopic taxonomy, as well as DNA verification along with high-performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography as required.
A2LA is the only independent, internationally recognised accreditation body in the United States that offers a full range of comprehensive laboratory and laboratory-related accreditation services.
A2LA’s ISO 17025 accreditation indicates technical proficiency and the ability of a laboratory to generate accurate and consistent data and is one of the highest standards that a testing laboratory can achieve.
