Year round vitamin A and D boost with Skin Vit A+
Some 95% of women in the UK get less than the European Community recommended daily allowance of vitamin A in their diets
Public Health England (PHE) has taken the unprecedented step of advising the whole population to increase their intake of vitamin D.
Skin Vit A+, a supplement from skin nutrition specialists Advanced Nutrition Programme, helps people to easily increase their intake of both vitamins A and D, supporting skin health and radiance.
Some 95% of women in the UK get less than the European Community recommended daily allowance of vitamin A in their diets, a nutrient well known for its wide-ranging antiageing and skin normalising benefits. Around 85% also don’t get enough vitamin D.
Vitamin A is important for normal cell production and repair throughout the body. It influences skin’s immune and sun protection qualities and helps prevent collagen breakdown and maintain skin firmness. It promotes better moisture levels and assists balances oil in the skin.
More than 18,500 pieces of research in the last decade confirm vitamin D’s important role in bone and muscle health, the immune system and protection from various types of cancer. It also promotes skin cell growth and differentiation, protects skin from bacterial infections and from wrinkle-inducing free radicals.
Other than getting a dose of summer sunshine, the main food sources of vitamin D are animal and fish livers and egg yolks – which also contain vitamin A. However, when we don’t get enough of these a supplement is a convenient way to increase levels all year round.
According to Lorraine Perretta, Nutritional Consultant at the International Institute for Anti-Ageing (iiaa), deficiencies of both of these vitamins are extremely common in the UK: 'We can only make vitamin D on exposure to the sun’s UVB rays, from April to September. Unfortunately, women who want to avoid skin cancer and wrinkles are increasingly using high SPFs and avoiding the midday sun, so they don’t build a store for winter. We also lose 75% of our ability to produce vitamin D between the ages of 20 and 70.'
Skin Vit A+ (60 capsules) is packed in a travel-friendly, lightweight resealable pouch. It is part of a cutting edge range of supplements that support skincare regimes, enhancing topical approaches to skin health and overall well-being.
