On the occasion of World Osteoporosis Day, which takes place every year on 20 October, Gnosis participated in the special 'supplements in the non-pharmacologic treatment of osteoporosis' event with a speech by by Dr Luca Tiano, who presented new evidence about the use of vitamin K2 menaquinone-7 in the form of vitaMK7 and K2&Olive.
A researcher in biochemistry, Dr Luca Tiano works in the Department of Odontostomatologic and Specialized Clinical Sciences at the Polytechnic University of Marche (Ancona, Italy).
This vitamin attracted a great deal of attention from the audience, comprising medical doctors and scientists, who flocked to the conference to be updated about new and effective nutrients in bone health.
Dr Tiano described the role of vitamin K2 the in the form of menaquinone-7 in bone metabolism, according to what scientific research has elucidated in the last few years, showing that it may help to reduce the risk of osteoporotic fractures and could be a good nutrient for the prevention of osteoporosis.
In particular, he highlighted the benefits of vitaMK7, the natural vitamin K2, obtained using a patented biofermentation process of Bacillus subtilis spp natto (US Patent 7,718,407) without using any dangerous solvents and allergens, and developed to resemble the naturally occurring vitamin K2 present in the Japanese soybean food.
Since 1996, World Osteoporosis Day includes a year-long campaign dedicated to raising global awareness about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease.
