Nutraceutical giant Gnosis by Lesaffre's LANDKIND Pure Salidroside has obtained allowable structure-function claims for the sports and active nutrition market, as well as Informed Ingredient Certification from the LGC.
By achieving Ingredient Certification, Gnosis has verified that its ingredient has been tested for more than 285 substancecs banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
These milestones were spurred on by a first-of-its-kind study demonstrating the ingredient's notable potential in supporting athletic performance, which is published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition.1
“The publication of our clinical study has been central to securing both Informed Certification and a range of structure-function claims dedicated to LANDKIND Pure Salidroside," noted stated Hélène Charier, Gnosis' Regulatory and IP Director.
“Our study is the first to demonstrate that daily supplementation with salidroside can positively impact exercise performance," she added.
Salidroside is an adaptogenic bioactive derived from Rhodiola rosea, which has been proven to support mood management and stress response, as well as offering muscular support.
The recent study conducted on LANDKIND Pure Salidroside means that four structure-function claims can now be made about the branded ingredient. These include:
- Increased oxygen uptake
- Improved exercise performance
- Muscular support
- Mood and stress management
“These structure-function claims are tied directly to the branded ingredient itself, enabling clear, science-backed communication about the ingredient’s function on labeling to brands, formulators, and consumers alike,” Charier commented.
“The scientific validation creates exciting new possibilities for innovative product applications that can target specific athletic needs with precision and credibility.”
Gnosis also achieved more generalised structure-function claims for its salidroside ingredient, including its ability to reduce exercise-induced oxidative stress, allowing for more efficient physiological adaptation to training and coping with various stressors.
According to Gnosis, it provides "full support for brand owners seeking defined structure-function claims language for use on product labels."
LANDKIND is also kosher, halal, vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO.
