Biotic specialist NutriLeads has introduced a new functional food-compatible format of its flagship precision prebiotic, Benicaros.
Benicaros F&B is a new form of the ingredient, which is suitable for use in a range of functional foods and beverages.
At a dose of 1g per day, the upcycled carrot pomace ingredient can offer clinically validated gut and immune health benefits in a cost-efficient and convenient serving.
This expands Benicaros' current reach, giving product developers greater flexibility when integrating the solution into their wellness products.
According to NutriLeads, Benicaros is formulation-ready and compatible with functional beverages, dairy products, powder formats and bars.
The solution is also pH and heat-stable, while being water soluble and neutral in texture, taste and odour.
Interestingly, previous peer-reviewed research has shown that Benicaros can support gut health by promoting the production of beneficial gut metabolites and by reshaping the gut microbiome's composition.
Studies also suggest the prebiotic functions without triggering the production of excess gas — a common side effect associated with prebiotic fibres.
