Botanical behemoth Layn Natural Ingredients has launched a next-generation plant-based sweetener, SteviUp M2.
The soluble and clean-label solution has been optimised to deliver a more sugar-like taste with shorter lingering sweetness compared with other steviol glycosides.
SteviUp M2 has also been reviewed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), who have recognised the product as GRAS for use as a general-purpose sweetener in food and beverage products.
Derived through the enzymatic conversion of purified steviol glycosides, SteviUp M2 is a clean-label, non-GMO, plant-based sweetener that exhibits superior water solubility compared with conventional stevia Reb M.
Through the bioconversion process, Layn also ensures that the solution is highly pure.
Designed for a range of food and beverage formulations, the ingredient can also be customised to complement specific food and beverage products.
“By investing in R&D efforts aimed at breeding new varieties of stevia leaf, increasing extract yield and optimising manufacturing processes, we have created SteviUp M2," stated Layn's President and CEO, Frank Xie.
"New high-purity exotic steviol glycosides allow for significant innovation and improved taste profiles, delivering better solutions for sugar reduction," he added.
"SteviUp harnesses the power of rebaudioside M2, which allows for a more efficient, scalable and sustainable sweetener manufacturing process that meets strict quality, safety and regulatory standards."
As demand for natural sugar alternatives continues to grow, SteviUp M2 offers a breakthrough solution for formulators seeking better sweetness performance while maintaining clean-label, non-GMO ingredient transparency.
Attendees to IFT FIRST 2025 in Chicago can visit booth #S2400 to chat with Layn about SteviUp versus other Reb M extracts.
