Nicole T. Stringham, PhD, University of Georgia, and one of the lead researchers from both LAMA (Lutein and Mental Acuity) I and II studies, has been selected to speak during the Next-Gen Ingredients for Brain Health panel discussion during this year’s SupplySide West, which runs from 25–29 September in Las Vegas (NV, USA).
The session will take place on Wednesday 27 September 27 from 14:00-16:00.
Nutritional ingredients for brain health have been touted for years and the session will address new applications for ingredients on the frontier of the cognitive arena.
Researchers will share their insights on studies suggesting the benefits of carotenoids that bolster cognitive performance, omega-3s for neuroprotection, probiotics to bolster emotional IQ via the gut-brain axis and adaptogens that may impact executive function and stress management.
Dr Stringham’s discussion will focus on all three macular carotenoids — lutein and zeaxanthin isomers (RR- and RS [meso]-zeaxnathin), their deposition in the brain as well as the findings from her recent studies linking them with cognitive performance, brain health and mood.
Dr Stringham will also be joined by a body of key experts including Parris M. Kidd, PhD, CSO, Director of Quality, BrainMD Health, Chris Kilham, Medicine Hunter and Michael Lewis, MD, President, Brain Health Education and Research Institute.
“Dr Nicole Stringham will bring unique insight on macular carotenoids for brain health to SupplySide West attendees,” said Lynda Doyle, Sr VP, Global Marketing, OmniActive Health Technologies. “Recent, compelling science including LAMA I and II shed light on the importance of the macular carotenoids beyond visual health and performance into other growing categories for example cognition and stress, creating new, exciting opportunities for lutein and zeaxanthin isomers.”
OmniActive will also be exhibiting at booth V147, providing exclusive presentations on Lutemax 2020 Lutein with Enhanced Levels of Zeaxanthin Isomers — the ingredient studied in both LAMA I and II studies, as well as Lutemax Free Lutein and Lutein Esters, OmniXan RR-Zeaxanthin, Capsimax Capsicum Extract, CurcuWIN Curcumin with Enhanced Absorption, OmniLean Salacia Extract and Gingever High Potency Ginger.
