Cytoplan, the provider of leading science-based nutritional supplements, announces the launch of three new supplements: L-theanine, Boswellia serrata and Thyroid Support.
The latest additions are part of Cytoplan’s targeted support range for practitioners. Currently, Cytoplan supplies supplements to more than 6000 health professionals in the UK and overseas including doctors, dentists and nutritional therapists.
L-theanine: L-theanine is an amino acid, found in tea leaves, which is used to support the relaxation response, improve sleep quality and support memory.
The supplement increases alpha brain waves, which are associated with a state of relaxation. These are the same brain waves present during meditation, daydreaming and REM sleep.
The supplement therefore diminishes the stress response, heart rate, blood pressure, cortisol and perceived stress and anxiety.
In addition, L-theanine’s effects on lowering stress hormones may have a positive effect on memory and learning. Although the supplement can be used to support sleep quality, it is not sedative and therefore can be taking during the day to support relaxation.
Boswellia serrata: Cytoplan’s Boswellia serrata is a plant native to much of India as well as Northern African and the middle east and is 65% extract.
Traditional Ayurvedic medicine has used the resin from the boswellia tree for hundreds of years for supporting musculoskeletal health.
Boswellia serrata’s active ingredients have been shown to inhibit pro-inflammatory processes, including effects on the 5-lipoxygenase and cyclo-oxygenase enzymes responsible for inflammation, suppression of NF-kB activation and the reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
It is therefore used for both acute and chronic pain. Cytoplan’s Boswellia serrata comes at a potency of 400 mg per capsule, providing 260 mg Boswellic acids. Our Boswellia is the highest potency of 65% extract.
Thyroid Support: Thyroid Support has been developed for those with an underactive thyroid gland.
Thyroid Support contains L-tyrosine, an amino acid that the thyroid gland uses to make its hormones. The supplement also contains kelp from an organic seaweed - Seagreens Ascophyllum nodosum, a natural source of iodine.
Iodine is needed for thyroid hormone production and is one of the micronutrients known to be short in the diets of many people.
In addition, selenium is included to help with conversion of the thyroid hormone T4 to T3 as T3 is metabolically active.
