Natural ingredient suppliers Cypress Minerals and Cepham have teamed up to launch an urgent humanitarian campaign.
Through this initiative, the companies aim to raise $140,000 by August 15, which will allow them to secure a permanent home for the Wings of Hope Rescue.
Wings of Hope is a Nairobi, Kenya-based shelter for girls aged between 11 and 17 who are (or have been) the victim of child assault.
Founded in 2016, the refuge currently houses 57 girls in a rented facility that can support up to 120 residents.
Alongside accomodation, the centre provides these children access to medical care, education and a community, giving them opportunities that would be otherwise unavailable.
The landlord is currently looking to sell the property, and without intervention, these girls and their children will be forced to vacate by September 1 with nowhere to go.
"The team at Wings of Hope Rescue Home gets up to 20 calls a week from the government to accept new residents," stressed Paul A. Willis, Founder of Cypress Minerals.
"However, without a permanent home, these vulnerable girls have no certainty and no hope," he added.
"We must act now to support their needs. Wings of Hope only accepts those in the most dire situations.”
Sexual violence remains a huge problem
According to a UNICEF Report (2024), contact sexual violence in childhood is highest in low-income countries.
The report also notes that "while both boys and girls are subjected to sexual violence, girls are generally known to be at higher risk in most contexts.
"Sexual violence against children is not just a personal tragedy — no matter where in the world — it is a public emergency. The trauma
runs deep, and so must our collective response. We must act not only to protect, but to prevent," said Michelle Martin, President and COO of Cypress Minerals.
"In addition to providing immediate shelter and care, education is central to the long-term rehabilitation of these young mothers and their children - basic human rights we take for granted. Education also empowers women in the growth and stability of the African nation,” Martin stated.
"By shifting the trajectory of these young lives, the nutraceutical industry can demonstrate its solidarity and humanitarian values — committing to health and wellbeing on a further scale," concluded Cepham's COO, Sameer Joshi.
The 'Because Hope Needs a Home' campaign is a call to action for the nutraceutical industry to rally together and demonstrate its collective commitment to health and human wellbeing.
With the deadline to raise funds set for August 15, 2025, the time to act is now.
