BI Nutraceuticals' Reno facility receives SQF certification
The SQF programme provides independent certification that BI’s food safety and quality management systems comply with international and domestic food safety regulations
BI Nutraceuticals' west coast manufacturing facility, located in McCarran, Nevada, has received a SQF 2000 (Safe Quality Food) certificate from NSF.
The SQF programme provides independent certification that BI’s food safety and quality management systems comply with international and domestic food safety regulations. SQF 2000 certification is a Global Food Safety Initiative recognised scheme, which was launched to enhance food safety, ensure consumer protection and strengthen consumer confidence.
'BI has set the industry standard for ingredient quality control and testing and this certification gives our customers another layer of assurance that our ingredients have been produced, processed, prepared and handled according to the highest possible food safety and quality standards,' stated George Pontiakos, President and CEO, BI Nutraceuticals.
SQF 2000 is a HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) based food safety and quality management system. The Food Safety Modernization Act makes it mandatory for all dietary supplement raw material suppliers to perform hazard analysis and have a risk-based food safety plan. SQF certification standardises food safety requirements, provides proof of the company’s due diligence, and also complies with the most stringent regulatory requirements.
