AstaReal has added Membralife — a new series of sea buckthorn-derived dietary supplements — to its portfolio.
The addition of Membralife is another step into the consumer market for AstaReal, and follows the inclusion of cardiovascular health-supporting Kyolic in April.
The Membralife range consists of both a capsule dietary supplement and a topical serum, which have been specifically developed to treat and prevent dry skin, while improving hydration of mucosal membranes.
The sea buckthorn oil-derived supplement is formulated with natural omega-7, as well as other polyunsaturated fatty acids and vitamins A, C & E.
According to AstaReal, the supplement can "help moisturise the body's mucous membranes, improving hydration in the eyes, mouth and genital area," meaning the product is ideal for those who experience routine dryness.
The topical serum also works externally to support skin hydration and repair, and is suitable for all skin types.
“We’re seeing increasing demand for products that both nourish and strengthen the skin and mucous membranes, especially among women in menopause," noted Peter Carlsson, Business Area Manager at AstaReal.
"There's also been an increase in interest among those who live in dry environments, and we aim to cater to both demographics by combining science with nature's resources," he added.
By expanding its portfolio outside of its nutraceutical roots, AstaReal hopes to "strengthen its position as a relevant player in consumer health."
According to the company, this could allow the brands it works with to get closer to consumers, who will "provide valuable insights into the type of health products they want," stated Carlsson.
The launch of Membralife fits in with the brand's long-term strategy of expanding its presence in the consumer health market.
