Direct selling giant Amway has announced plans to invest $20m in a second manufacturing plant in Vietnam. Scheduled for completion in 2015, the facility in Binh Duong will produce personal care products in addition to the company’s Nutrilite brand of vitamin, mineral and dietary supplements. Amway’s existing Vietnam manufacturing site is located in the province of Dong Nai.
The planned facility forms part of Amway’s $375m global manufacturing and R&D expansion, focusing primarily on Vietnam, China and India, as well as four US operations. New R&D facilities and pilot laboratories are under construction in Buena Park, California, while a $10m botanical research and experience centre in Wuxi, China, will help integrate scientific knowledge with the use of traditional Asian plants, according to the company.
