Aker BioMarine has signed a distribution agreement with global specialty ingredients provider, Barentz International.
The nutraceutical company's range of omega-3 rich krill oil products will now be more widely available across Europe.
Through this arrangement, Barentz will be responsible for the distribution of Aker's products in Italy, San Marino, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
This includes SuperbaKrill, a krill-based nutraceutical that is high in omega-3s, phospholipids, choline and astaxanthin, and can support cardiovascular health, as well as cognition and liver health.
As well as krill-based functional ingredients, Barentz will be responsible for the distribution of FloraMarina — an algal oil with a high concentration of DHA — which can boost a user's brain and eye health.
Aker Biomarine's SVP of Sales for Human Health Ingredients in the EMEA and LATAM region, Mercè Piñol, commented: “We are excited for the journey ahead with Barentz and for the potential it has to help us further expand our footprint in Europe,”
“Their expertise in life sciences combined with their extensive network and local presence, makes for the perfect recipe in helping to bring our products to a broader audience, especially to those interested in health and wellness.”
Barentz's Market & Principals Directors of Nutraceuticals, Alexandre Blanc, added: “The Barentz Nutraceutical team is proud to partner with Aker Biomarine,”
“This new milestone will enable our customers to access pristine and sustainably sourced krill oil and reinforce Barentz’s positioning as the global specialty Nutraceutical actives provider. Combining Aker Biomarine’s unparalleled industrial expertise with Barentz extensive market footprint will ensure long-term business growth .”
