Biohm Health has launched a targeted microbiome formulation for women in partnership with nutraceutical giant, ADM.
The targeted gut health ingredient, Vivifem, is a combination of pre, pro and postbiotics and is designed to help women age healthily.
To create this functional ingredient, ADM utilised Biohm Technologies' Symbiont AI platform, which takes a systematic approach to ingredient formulation.
Biohm's platform aims to facilitate successful ingredient discovery and selection through machine learning, creating targeted and effective solutions for a variety of health indications.
More about Vivifem
The nutraceutical contains a combination of science-backed biotics that aim to address the common microbiome issues in women aged between 40 and 65.
By employing the Symbiont platform into the R&D process, researchers identified microbiome shifts specifically found in an cohort of older women, compared to a younger cohort.
From this data, the duo crafted a formulation that could specifically target the problem issues for this consumer subset.
The end result contained a range of biotic blends, including
- Mycosha — a probiotic blend
- PreforPro — a prebiotic
- ES1 — a postbiotic
According to Biohm, there are seven published human clinical trials that support the functional ingredients incorporated into the Vivifem formula.
Biohm Technologies' VP of B2B Marketing, Kristin Willhoyte, commented: “Healthy aging and women’s health are two categories that remain ripe for opportunity, and gut microbiome balance plays a tremendous role in these areas. Our microbiome dataset allows us to create truly targeted solutions for specific groups of consumers and their needs - in this case, women over 40.”
CEO of Biohm, Sam Schatz, CEO of Biohm, added: "By combining comprehensive bacterial and fungal biological data with cutting-edge computational biology and AI, we are unlocking new insights into human health. This latest formulation is a testament to this approach and there's much more to come."
Attendees of SupplySide West can learn more about the Vivifem formulation by visiting the Biohm Technologies booth (6615) or the ADM booth (4355).
