Organised by the Canadian government and the Food Processing Council of Quebec (Conseil de la transformation alimentaire du Québec (CTAQ)), Markus Brettschneider, group senior vice president and general manager of global food and beverage applications at ABB, will be presenting on the first day of the event.
In addition to presenting at the conference, key leaders of the food and beverage team of ABB Canada will be hosting a technology immersion tour of the new ABB campus and Customer Innovation Centre in Montreal, which opened in May 2017. The primary focus of the tour is to show guests how ABB’s Ability digitalisation platform can be used by businesses to develop key performance indicators (KPIs) around cost, safety, quality and sustainability, with a series of presentations and workshops.
“Digitalisation is a key topic that many of our food and beverage customers across Canada discuss with us,” explained Nathalie Pilon, president of ABB Canada. “As consumer buying habits change and the demand for greater choice grows, our customers are looking at how to ensure they can quickly adapt their manufacturing processes to deliver the quality products that consumers are demanding.”
ABB launched its ABB Ability solutions earlier in 2017. The platform brings together a selection of digital technologies that food and beverage plant engineers can integrate into their systems to improve process and plant safety. The offering includes technologies such as ABB’s smart sensors for motors, which bring connectivity to existing industrial motors, as well as automation systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES) to maximise production efficiency and traceability.
“The food and beverage industry alone brought in 32.3 billion dollars in exports to Canada in 2016. With ABB’s technologies, more businesses can optimise their current strategies and compete with businesses on a global scale,” explained Daniel Vielfaure, president of CTAQ.
“The National Food Technology Event is the first of its kind in Canada and is an opportunity for businesses and those working in the industry to see first-hand how the technologies work in food applications.”
