TTP Labtech Ltd, the England-based design and development of automated instrumentation and consumables for life science applications, has announced its corporate name change to SPT Labtech, effective from January 6, 2020.
The change of name is a contractual requirement of its divestment from TTP Group in 2018 with the backing of technology-focused investment firm Battery Ventures.
David Newble, Managing Director of TTP Labtech, explained: "We chose the name SPT Labtech to provide familiarity for customers and acknowledge our proud company history of scientific excellence.
"At the same time, we are excited to mark this milestone in our journey as a standalone organisation and enter our next chapter of growth with a new name which reflects our focus going forward. The inspiration behind the name was ‘Sample Preparation Technologies’ however, this is not something we will continue to refer to from this point forward”.
For 18 years, TTP Labtech has designed and manufactured robust, reliable and easy-to-use liquid handling, sample management, Cryo-EM and multiplexed detection solutions that empower scientists.
The company's products streamline critical workflows and increase agility, efficiency and productivity across drug discovery, structural biology, genomics, Cryo-EM, sample management and biobanking. With Battery Ventures supporting its strategic growth vision through investment in R&D and acquisitions, the company is continuing to strengthen its position as a global leader in the life sciences market.
The new company name will be implemented across company websites, materials and media on Jan 6, 2020.
Headquartered in Melbourn, Hertfordshire, SPT Labtech also operates from locations in India and the US.
