Coriander-based nutricosmetic offers skin anti-ageing and UV protection benefits, study finds

Seppic's beauty from within ingredient, SEPIBLISS, has now been proven to combat oxidative stress, offering UV protective and skin soothing benefits

A new clinical study conducted on Seppic's coriander-based nutraceutical, SEPIBLISS, found that it can offer significant anti-ageing benefits.

The beauty from within ingredient is specifically designed for those who are prone to skin sensitivity — which can be caused by chronic exposure to environmental stressors like pollution, as well as internal stressors like oxidative stress.

Through consistent exposure to stress of this nature, individuals can experience accelerated ageing, which Seppic wanted to counteract with SEPIBLISS.

The functional ingredient has already been proven to be effective as a UV protective and skin soothing agent in a clinical study, while in vitro investigations have revealed its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential.

To further assess how SEPIBLISS can support skin health from within, Seppic conducted a new clinical study involving 99 women between the ages of 35 and 65 with visible signs of skin ageing.

During the eight week study period, participants were either given a low (100mg) or high (200mg) dose of SEPIBLISS in oil form daily.

Key findings of the study include:

  • SEPIBLISS can promote a youthful appearance: After two weeks of supplementation, both treatment groups experienced a reduction in wrinkle depth, as well as an increase in skin firmness. There was also a 9% decrease in 'crow's feet' observed in the 100mg/day group after two months.

  • The ingredient enhances skin barrier function: Those taking 200mg/day experienced a 9% reduction in transepidermal water loss after one month of supplementation. Similar results were reported in the 100mg/day cohort.

  • The nutricosmetic reduces UV-induced erythema: Skin erythema was reduced significantly (18%) during the two month study period in the 200mg/day cohort

  • SEPIBLISS protects against oxidative stress: Participant skin strippings exhibited decreased malondialdehyde levels, suggesting a demonstrable reduction in skin lipid peroxidation following UV exposure.

Interestingly, SEPIBLISS has also been shown to contribute to stress management in a consumer study involving 89 healthy adults.

The cohort, that was experiencing moderate stress during the study period, self-reported significant improvements in perceived wellbeing, mood and self-confidence after two months of supplementation with SEPIBLISS.

"The results of these new studies confirm the value of SEPIBLISS as an active ingredient for all skin types — including the most sensitive," notes Seppic's Nutrition Product Manager, Salma Zahidi.

"Our nutricosmetic cultivates holistic beauty and wellbeing, and recognises the intrinsic link between skin beauty and inner wellness," she adds.

These results come at a time when the demand for beauty from within supplements continues to rise, with products focusing on hair, skin and nail health making their way into the supplement routines of a wide range of demographics.
