Premium Australian seaweed extracts attain EU organic certification

Published: 2-Sep-2025

Marine biotechnology leader, Marinova Pty, has attained EU organic certification for its unique portfolio of branded ingredients: Maritech organic fucoidans

Supported by an extensive dossier of scientific evidence, Maritech organic fucoidans are premium extracts sought after for inclusion in market-leading dietary supplements, medical
devices and skincare formulations.

EU organic certification is the latest accreditation attesting to Marinova's strict compliance with international production standards.

The accreditation complements the existing EU Novel Foods authorisation for Maritech's organic fucoidans portfolio.

These high-purity extracts also have FDA-notified GRAS status and are USDA National Organic Program (NOP) certified.

Marinova continues to set global benchmarks for environmental stewardship. The company has recently been celebrated in the Banksia National Sustainability Awards, Australia’s most
prestigious sustainability awards programme.

Marinova was named the 2025 national winner of the highly coveted Healthy Planet, Healthy People category for its sustainable production of bioactive fucoidan extracts, demonstrating alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Marinova has also been recognised for its leadership in two other prominent Australian business awards programs, the Telstra Best of Business Awards and The Australian Export
Awards. In both cases, Marinova was the recipient of awards celebrating outstanding sustainability initiatives.

Speaking of Marinova’s commitment to certified organic and sustainable marine ingredients, the company’s Quality Manager, Dr Michelle Mendoza, said: “Attaining EU organic certification provides additional confidence for formulators and consumers alike."

"Maritech organic fucoidans tick all the boxes. They are natural, efficacious and supported by a sustainable and transparent supply chain that is regularly and independently audited.”
