AP-Bio, also known as KalmCold in Europe, is a fast-acting proprietary 100% natural ingredient with seven bioactives and is supported by three clinical studies to support immune health and relief from cold & flu symptoms at a low dose.
Deepak Mundkinajeddu, PhD, Natural Remedies’ Head of R&D, explained that in the open- label study, 21 healthy participants consumed 200 mg of A. paniculata as AP-Bio daily for 30 days. The subjects had measurements of immune cells NK cells, T cells, T helper cells, T cytotoxic cells, as well as cytokines such as interferon gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-2 (IL-2), interleukin-12 (IL-12), and tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) on days 0, 3,7 and 30.
The study results indicated that there is a significant increase in the T cells, T helper cells at day 7 and 30 and significant increase in IFN-γ, IL-4 at day 30. While a transient significant increase in IL-2 at day 7 that helps in T-cell proliferation was observed. The authors concluded that supplementation of AP-Bio (standardised A. paniculata extract) for 30 days provided noticeable immunomodulatory effects evidenced by its effects on immune cells and cytokines.
He added that AP-Bio has two prior clinical studies demonstrating influence on immunity through supporting healthy inflammatory response and immunostimulatory balance. “The studies show that AP-Bio’s low effective dose allows for flexibility in formulations. One human study showed that at 200 mg per day for five days, consuming AP-Bio demonstrated 55% better effects on ameliorating the common cold symptoms compared to placebo.”
According to Abey Thomas, Head of Global Marketing for Natural Remedies, AP-Bio possesses powerful, attractive consumer benefits. “As consumers look to faster onset of action for their immune health needs, AP-Bio provides a safe, natural, science-backed, and sustainable solution,” he said. “Consumers can feel good not only about the science behind AP-Bio’s immune support properties but that it is ethically and sustainably cultivated, harvested and processed.”
