Kaneka Ubiquinol, the global supplier of Ubiquinol, the potent lipid-soluble antioxidant that powers mitochondrial function, has announced the formation of its inaugural Scientific Advisory Board following the first meeting on Friday 4 July.
This prestigious Board brings together world-class experts committed to advancing the science and clinical understanding of mitochondrial health as a foundation for lifelong well-being.
Its core mission is to support evidence-based approaches to preventive and integrative healthcare, foster translational research and strengthen cross-disciplinary collaboration focused on sub-cellular health.
Chaired by Dr Ross Walker, a globally respected integrative cardiologist and preventive health advocate, the Board brings together high-impact expertise spanning integrative medicine, mitochondrial function, cardiology, reproductive health, genetics, nutrition, naturopathy, pharmacy and complementary medicine.
“Mitochondrial health supports the full lifecycle of well-being - from preconception to the first 1000 days of life to healthy ageing,” said Dr Walker.
“Its central role in cellular energy and resilience is precisely why the formation of this Board is so important. It reflects a growing recognition of mitochondrial function as a cornerstone of healthspan and lifespan.”
The Scientific Advisory Board will offer insights into emerging research, clinical practice trends and market needs to help further Kaneka Ubiquinol’s mission to elevate Ubiquinol as a critical component of preventive and integrative healthcare. Among the distinguished experts on the Board are
- Dr Ross Walker: Leading integrative cardiologist and preventative health advocate
- Professor Alan Bensoussan: Founding Director, NICM Health Research Institute and pioneer in evidence-based complementary medicine research across APAC
- Dr Leah Hechtman, PhD: Specialist in reproductive medicine, fertility, and women’s health
- Dr Denise Furness, PhD: Functional geneticist and nutritionist, expert in personalised health and nutrigenomics
- Gerald Quigley: Pharmacist and Master Herbalist focused on integrative patient care and education
- Bobby Mehta: Award-winning pharmacist and educator with a focus on practitioner engagement and clinical education.
“We are honoured to welcome this distinguished board,” said Tsuyoshi Takakuwa, Head of Marketing and Sales (APAC), Supplemental Nutrition Business Division, Kaneka Corporation, Japan.
“This marks the beginning of a platform for open dialogue ± a place where we can exchange ideas, explore new opportunities, and shape the future of health and wellness together."
"At Kaneka Ubiquinol, our vision is clear: to be the trusted leader in mitochondrial health and cellular energy. Not only through scientific innovation, but through the meaningful, real-world impact we are making on people’s well-being.”
Award-winning Kaneka Ubiquinol, backed by decades of scientific research and global trust, remains at the forefront of innovation in the nutraceuticals market, setting best-in-class global standards in nutraceutical science, R&D, manufacturing and business practice.
Kazuki Takita, Oceania & Asia Marketing & Sales Team, Supplement Business Group, Supplement Strategic Unit, who shared important insights about Kaneka Ubiquinol’s unique market position during the meeting, said that the formation of the Board will be remembered as a defining moment for the brand.
A key market insight he shared focused on Kaneka Ubiquinol’s standout differentiator: its globally patented precision yeast fermentation process, which enables the production of bioidentical Ubiquinol.
“Beyond delivering advanced technology, our globally patented precision yeast fermentation process reflects Kaneka’s deep commitment to sustainability,” added Takita.
“By operating without high temperatures or pressure, it significantly reduces energy consumption and environmental impact, enabling the ecofriendly production of bioidentical Ubiquinol. The result is a premium, clinically proven ingredient with exceptional purity and efficacy.”
As the sole global supplier of bioidentical Ubiquinol – backed by more than 45 years of research, 100+ scientific studies and 80 patents — the formation of the Mitochondrial Health Scientific Advisory Board marks a bold step forward in positioning mitochondrial health as a cornerstone of healthy ageing and long-term vitality.
