The event was well attended, confirming the great interest in folate and S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), and it was an opportunity to reiterate the extraordinary features of Quatrefolic, the glucosamine salt of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, structurally analogous to the reduced and active form of folate, able to support and regulate the methylation cycle ensuring a higher folate uptake.
The speech provided a broad perspective on the role, efficacy and safety of Adonat (S-adenosylmethionine –SAMe) in the treatment of mood impairment, neuropsychiatric disorders and co-morbid medical conditions.
Professor Bottiglieri, a specialist on one carbon metabolism, described symptoms and causes of folate deficiency.
Supported by the results of several clinical trials, he also explained the essential role of B vitamins and methyl-group donors to reduce the symptoms of specific diseases, with particular focus on neurodegenerative disorders.
