Ingredients by Nature (IBN) has received a comprehensive GRAS profile, including a scientific safety review and analysis confirming the GRAS status of its Eriomin ingredient. GRAS Associates, a fully-owned subsidiary of Nutrasource, assisted IBN with the regulatory process.
Eriomin is a standardised extract of lemon-based flavonoids designed for use in dietary supplements and functional foods or beverages. The flavonoids have been clinically tested and are now certified safe for US food supply.
"We are very excited to see Eriomin achieve self-GRAS status,” said Rob Brewster, President of IBN. “The reception of this goes to show our continued investment and focus, as a leading manufacturer and supplier of citrus flavonoids, on developing and researching these beneficial ingredients.”
Amy Mozingo, VP of US Nutra Regulatory Sciences, Nutrasource/GRAS Associates said: “Nutrasource is very pleased to have assisted Ingredients by Nature in achieving the GRAS conclusion for their citrus derived bioflavonoids Eriomin. An independent panel of qualified experts unanimously agreed that use of Eriomin in nutritional beverages at levels up to 0.84 mg/ml is GRAS.”
GRAS Associates assists supplement and food ingredient companies with full regulatory scientific services from concept to claim, including regulatory guidance and program development, establishing safety of ingredients, claims substantiation, and technical label review for US market access.
