With several Astaxanthin producers to choose from, only three have ever published clinical research that they sponsored on their own Astaxanthin product and only two have actively published such research in the last several years. Algae Health Sciences, a division of natural ingredient producer BGG, is is one of these two producers.
Some of its most significant studies over the last three years include the following:
- AstaZine reduces heart rate by 10% in people doing endurance exercise. This study shows how AstaZine can help the heart work more efficiently and produce a high level of physical activity and endurance with reduced effort and stress. Lead researcher on this study Shawn Talbott, PhD, President of independent CRO Eqqil, noted: “These results are suggestive of a general ‘cardiotonic’ effect of Natural Astaxanthin, that should be investigated in non-athletic populations including elderly subjects and those with cardiac complications.”
- AstaZine improves mood state in healthy, active volunteers. This study has big implications as the first study to examine multiple implications for Astaxanthin in improving psychological health. Key findings included a decrease in feelings of depression by 57%, a decrease in mental fatigue by 36%, and an increase in global mood state (overall feeling of psychological well-being) by 11%.
- A study to be published later this year was completed by BGG’s Japanese Team with very positive results for brain health and cognition (details to follow.)
