AI-powered bioactive discovery specialist Brightseed has partnered with Botalys.
Brightseed will work with the medicinal plant and botanical provider to further enhance Botalys’ functional ingredient discovery pipeline.
The companies will leverage the partnership to supply their customers in the cosmetic, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries with their bioactive botanicals and functional ingredients.
Botalys operates a 40,000 sqft farming facility where botanicals are hydroponically grown in climate-controlled conditions.
The company will utilise Brightseed’s Forager AI platform, which employs machine learning to create a database of the bioactive metabolites present in the natural world.
Botalys will use this to identify and map the hidden health benefits of the botanicals it grows.
“Brightseed’s AI-driven approach to discovering the unknown health benefits of plants aligns with our mission to cultivate botanicals that set new standards in quality and efficacy,” said Botalys’ co-founder and CEO, Pierre-Antoine Mariage.
“With our biomimetic indoor farming technology, we can measure, control and mimic the conditions which have spun nature’s most beneficial molecules for human health.”
The Vice President of business development at Brightseed, David Brown, added: "We are thrilled to partner with Botalys, whose advanced cultivation techniques perfectly complement Brightseed’s capabilities in rapid bioactive profiling and discovery of novel chemistries for product development,"
"Together we want to set the gold standard on what it means to cultivate health & wellness at the source by offering consistent, sustainable, and traceable plant sources.”
