The Leeds-based workspace creation experts were called upon by global chemical distribution market leader Brenntag UK, who have recently relocated their UK head office from Yeadon to Lawnswood in Leeds.
With a network spread across a multitude of locations in 74 countries and a workforce of more than 14,000 employees, the company had simply grown out of its current headquarters. Brenntag were eager to remain in a similar location to retain the current 160 plus employees it housed there.
The Lawnswood site was considered a perfect choice of location that provided a blank canvas for Avanta's interior designer, using a plethora of office design experience, to work closely with the client to design a modern and practical office space to suit the needs of the growing business.
Innovative 3D visuals and mood boards were used to present proposals with the bold corporate identity of Brenntag at the forefront. Inevitably given the scale of the project, there were many revisions made before the final design was decided upon.
The full office fit out consisted of
- ceiling height glazed & solid partitions for creating offices & meeting rooms
- floor coverings designed in coherence with the brand
- integrated storage walls
- fully fitted shower rooms & toilets
- multiple break rooms and integrated kitchen area
- diving walls to separate meeting area & boardroom
- heating & cooling systems
- wall art graphics
- supply of furniture – desks, chairs, etc.
- custom made reception furniture
- acoustic wall & ceiling panels
- supply, install & commissioning of AV equipment
- provision of power & data
- air conditioning generator compound
- cycle shelter.
Avanta's Andrew Chipp was delighted with the results, stating: “I am really proud of the Avanta team on delivering this project and giving Brenntag a modern facility to be proud of. We fitted out the old Yeadon office in circa 2000 and this new project shows how much Brenntag has grown in the UK and how office design coupled with technology has progressed especially in the last decade. This site is a showcase of what we can do we hope to complete many more in the future.”
Guided by a dedicated site manager and with the help of many trades, the project took just 10 weeks to complete. The transformation from an empty office included
- plastering
- plumbing
- furniture installation
- partition fixing
- carpeting & flooring
- decor
- tilling
- cleaning
- electrical works
- mechanics
- outside ground works.
Brenntag's Gareth Robinson commented: “We are delighted with the transformation and delivery of the Brenntag vision. Working closely with Andrew and the team at Avanta we have created a workplace with the WOW factor for our employees to thrive in.”
All enablings including site cabins, labourers, skips, visqueen, barriers and welfare facilities were provided by Avanta to promote the smooth & safe running of the site throughout the entirety of the project.
Russel Argo (President of Brenntag UK & Ireland) added: “This is exciting times for all of us at Brenntag UK & Ireland. Our teams worked hard to design a facility with greatly increased capacity for visitors, training and networking opportunities. The primary aim however was always on achieving a great working environment for our teams, as People Focus continues to be a pillar for our strategy.”
