Natural ingredients provider BioVivo Science has officially opened its new 100,000 sqft, cGMP-certified US ingredient manufacturing facility in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Through this $70m investment, BioVivo has significantly expanded its domestic production capacity, while boosting the its supply chain resilience in an increasingly unstable geopolitical climate.
This follows the Trump Administration's threats to place tariffs on certain imported botanical ingredients — including ginseng.
On top of the company's footprint expansion, BioVivo is to debut its new, next-generation, water-soluble American ginseng extract at functional food and beverage event, IFT FIRST.
Known for its adaptogenic and cognitive health benefits, ginseng has been growing in popularity as a raw supplement ingredient — containing key bioactives such as Rb1, Re and Rg1, as well as immune-supporting polysaccharides and flavonoids.
BioVivo's American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) extract will be available for a range of applications, including a water-soluble, standardised extract and a powder optimised for beverages, functional foods and supplements.
Sourced and cleanly extracted from US-grown ginseng, BioVivo's nutraceutical has a favourable solubility and bioavailability profile, while being a clean-label, plant-based and traceable solution.
Those attending next week's IFT FIRST in Chicago can find BioVivo at booth #4505, where the company will be on hand to discuss the facility expansion and new ginseng extract.
The company will also present a featured session: 'Securing the Future of Functional Ingredients: U.S. Made Botanical Solutions', on Monday, July 14 from 2:30-3:00PM, and will highlight ways that domestic manufacturing can improve performance, transparency and resilience in functional ingredient supply chains.
