Biosearch Life once again demonstrates its commitment to the quality of its products and the environment after receiving the organic certification for the L. fermentum CECT5716 LC40 strain. It is the first strain to obtain this certification.
In recent years, it has been seen how consumers and companies show greater concern for the environment, leading consumers towards more responsible consumption and increased interest in organic products.
In this regard, the market for organic products has grown significantly owing to increased consumer awareness about health and the benefits of these products. This growth is also attributed to consumer recognition of the improved safety, nutrition and taste of organic products compared to conventional food products.
The global organic food and beverage market is forecast to grow by 16.44% (CAGR) during the 2020 to 2025 forecast period.
In line with this market trend and after developing the Exxentia Bio line composed of organic extracts, Biosearch Life has begun the search for organic certification for its probiotic strains in the Hereditum range, being the first strain to obtain this LC40 certification (Lactobacillus fermentum CECT5716 LC40).
LC40 is a patented probiotic strain, isolated from breast milk that has been clinically proven to be an effective strategy for mother and baby, protecting infants from respiratory infections and promoting breastfeeding.
This certification allows the consumer to distinguish products of ecological origin on the market and to guarantee that the product meets all established requirements and protocols, such as the best environmental practices, a high level of biodiversity, the preservation of natural resources, the application of exacting animal welfare standards and production in accordance with the preferences of certain consumers for products obtained from natural substances and processes.
Furthermore, this organic certification has been granted by the CAAE certification service in accordance with Regulation (CE) 834/2007 on production and labelling of organic products (and its development standards) and the certification system based on inspection and taking samples under the conditions defined in Title IV of Regulation (EC) 889/2008.
Monica Olivares, director of R&D at Biosearch Life, said: “It is a very important milestone for Biosearch Life to have obtained this highly important organic product certification for our Hereditum LC40 strain, which motivates us towards a greater commitment to the quality of our products."
"It is very gratifying to be able to differentiate ourselves to our end consumer, consequently helping to protect mothers and their babies during breastfeeding. From Biosearch Life we will continue developing our activity focused on R&D to promote the health of our consumers."
