Beneo, a functional ingredients developer for the nutraceutical industry, will be showcasing its range of weight management products at IFT FIRST, a food expo in Chicago.
From July 14–17, Beneo will demonstrate three products from its weight loss range, including:
- Palatinose: a ‘smart carbohydrate’ that stimulates GLP-1 release
- Orafti Inulin and Oligofructose: prebiotic fibres that trigger the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)
The company will also exhibit its plant-based protein range, with faba and rice products allowing consumers to boost the nutritional status of their diet while avoiding meat-based solutions.
Tackling obesity with natural solutions
In the US, 2 in 5 adults are obese, according to the National Centre for Disease Control. It is believed that almost USD $173bn is spent on treating obesity every year in the US — so preventative control could have a significant impact on the economy and public health.
“The food industry plays a crucial role in addressing weight management and obesity prevention,” says Jon Peters, Sales Director Americas, BENEO. “Tackling obesity is a national concern and our solutions offer a natural and scientifically proven way to support effective and long-term weight management, contributing to positive public health outcomes,”
In general, the company’s ‘weight management toolbox’ allows consumers to lose or maintain their weight through three different mechanisms:
- Helping people eat less through reduced cravings and metabolic modulation
- Losing weight while nourishing the body with healthy carbohydrates, quality proteins and prebiotic fibres for gut health
- Making consumer experiences enjoyable while reducing sugar and fat intake
Whether it is about cutting calories or achieving a high protein profile – the application experts of the BENEO-Technology Center advise manufacturers along the whole development process.
