Nutrition21 has done multiple computer-based cognitive tests through the online platform Cambridge Brain Sciences to study the effects of its nooLVL nootropic in esports gamers.
The ingredient, a complex of bonded arginine silicate with a dose of Inositol, is a non-stimulant nootropic designed to enhance cognitive performance in fast-paced competition. The company says it’s been clinically shown to increase energy without the addition of caffeine as well as to increase focus and accuracy and improve reaction time.
The study, presented at the Experimental Biology 2022 meeting, examined healthy adult males and females, between 18-32, who received 1600 mg of nooLVL per day for seven days.
Each subject was asked to take multiple computer-based cognitive performance tests prior to supplementation, at baseline, the first day after baseline, and seven days after supplementation.
Results associated supplementation with significant improvement in attention and concentration from baseline to day 1, baseline to day 7, and day 1 to day 7. Significant improvement from baseline to day 1 and baseline to day 7 was also found in visual representation, in addition to forethought/sequencing, the researchers say.
Based on this study, the company says, a single dose of nooLVL can improve concentration, visual representation, forethought, and visual processing.
A 2019, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial reportedly found nooLVL significantly increases mental acuity and focus within 15 minutes. It also showed that nooLVL significantly improves accuracy (reduces errors), as well as attention and reaction time.
