Its new range of I-Packs contains a three-metre length of conduit, two hygienic fittings and two stainless steel locknuts; all the components needed to connect and interconnect cabling to equipment for food and hygienic applications.
The conduit has a smooth inner bore, making it easy to run power and data cables and even airlines through it to simplify installation.
Says Tim Creedon, Sales and Marketing Director for Flexicon: “Flexible conduit is a better and more cost effective means of interconnecting power and data cables compared to traditional cable gland installations, as several cables can be grouped together for a single cable entry point."
“It means that installations are simpler, faster and save space because only one gland is needed. These I-Packs make the specification even easier for the installer, as everything they need is in one handy pack."
“Future maintenance is also reduced as existing circuits can be replaced, upgraded or added with minimal disruption, and fewer cable entry points means that it is less likely that the ingress protection will fail during wash down or cleaning."
“In the face of many potential hazards to cables, including potential ingress of water or dust, corrosion because of chemicals or temperature changes, it is vital that equipment remains operational. Failure of any cabling could lead to downtime, quality issues or potentially even safety issues.”
The I-Pack’s flexible conduit system offers an IP rating of IP66, IP67, IP68 (2bar) and IP69 making it ideal for washdown environments. Both the fitting and the conduit have smooth surfaces to minimise any opportunities for food or bacterial accumulation.
The hygienic grade stainless steel fittings are designed in accordance with Food Processing Machinery Design Standards EN 1672-2, and Safety of Machinery – Hygiene requirements for the design of machinery EN ISO 14159.
The fitting incorporates blue compression seals and a blue nut seal, which prevents ingress of food and bacteria. This ensures the on-going effectiveness of any cleaning and maintenance schedules.
The I-Pack range is available with either 20 or 25mm diameter conduit in either white or blue. It offers corrosion resistance, high chemical and thermal resistance, is self-extinguishing in the event of a fire and is vibration and shock tested.
The conduit is manufactured from FDA-approved ingredients and has been independently tested to European Food Regulation 10/2011.
Concludes Creedon: “These I-Packs make specification easy for installers offering cable protection within hygienic locations such as the food, pharmaceutical or medical applications. Each pack contains everything that the contractor or engineer will need for the majority of applications in one easy to use solution."
“The range has been launched as part of our new hygienic cable protection offer, which also includes eight new conduit ranges in diameters from 16 to 63mm. If the specifier needs an alternative solution due to their bespoke installation hazards, our range of metallic and non-metallic hygienic conduits will surely cover it.”
