In a major step forward in synbiotic formulation, Clasado Biosciences, in partnership with leading probiotics business, Probi AB, has jointly developed and will be launching two synbiotic combinations at SupplySide West 2023
Set to raise the bar for the synbiotic category, the partnership sees the launch of two new predetermined combinations that customers can access:
Notably, in a market first, recent research into Bimuno GOS and Probi Defendum demonstrates a synergistic synbiotic combination that showcases selective utilisation of the prebiotic GOS by the probiotic.
In addition, the combination of Bimuno GOS and Digestis showcases complementary mechanisms of action and enters the market as the most researched synbiotic ingredient pairing, with extensive studies behind both ingredients covering almost 340 publications between them.
Both combinations take advantage of Clasado’s multi-award-winning prebiotic galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS), and Probi AB’s expertise in probiotic functional ingredients. The concepts will be showcased at Probi’s booth (#5851).
For precision in product development, Bimuno GOS and Digestis is formulated to support gastrointestinal and digestive health, whereas Bimuno GOS and Defendum targets the areas of digestive health and immune health together, showing strong immune support through a modulated gut microbiome.
With the global awareness of the importance of beneficial gut bacteria on the rise, the collaboration between Clasado and Probi takes centre stage in addressing the growing demand for cutting-edge technologies that promote well-being through better gut health.
Per Rehné, CEO of Clasado, commented: "The biotics category is experiencing an unprecedented era of growth and discovery, and we are thrilled to reveal our synbiotic combinations in partnership with Probi at SupplySide West."
"By synergising our expertise, we are taking the guesswork away for formulators with predetermined combinations, based on two of the most comprehensively studied ingredients of their kind. This unlocks faster speed to market, as well as more reliable results through formulation and testing."
“The synbiotic category is growing rapidly and we’re playing our part in making this technology accessible to formulators. Between this launch and the growing regulatory successes of the business, Clasado stands out as the clear choice for health and nutrition brands looking to develop their own entry to the synbiotic market.”
One of the cores behind both of these innovative synbiotic combinations is Clasado's Bimuno GOS ingredient, the most extensively researched galacto-oligosaccharide on the market.
Bimuno GOS boasts an impressive scientific track record, supported by over 110 scientific publications and more than 20 clinical trials affirming its safety and efficacy.
These synbiotic creations are the result of combining Bimuno GOS with either Probi Digestis or Probi Defendum.
Probi Digestis is founded on the highly clinically documented Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 299v (LP299V) strain, renowned for its ability to survive the entire gastrointestinal tract.
LP299V is to date the most clinically investigated L. plantarum strain available and has proven its efficacy for improving gastrointestinal functions in more than 70 clinical studies.
Probi Defendum comprises two immune-strengthening strains, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum HEAL9 and Lacticaseibacillus paracasei 8700:2.
This combination of strains has been proven to support immune function in more than 10 clinical studies, thereby decreasing the risk of viral infections in both adults and children as young as one year of age.
Anita Johansen, CEO of Probi, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: "Our shared commitment to research and empirical evidence makes this partnership especially promising."
"In today's health and wellness market, consumers seek scientifically backed products that they can trust, and our collaborative launch with Clasado positions us at the forefront of the growing synbiotics market."
"Digestis and Defendum are extensively studied probiotic concepts, and we look forward to advancing the wider synbiotic category with our evidence-based approach.”
