SynBalance: Clinically tested probiotics for stress management

KeepCalm strains have been selected following an in-vitro screening on their ability in different models like neutrotransmitters production (GABA and serotonin) as well as the improvement of the activity of specific epigenetic enzymes. 

To confirm their effects in humans, a proof-of-concept trial was carried out to evaluate stress-related parameters for 28 days of product intake in a group of 30 stressed students, which has open the possibility to enlarge the spectrum of action of KeepCalm in stress management.

A double-blind crossover clinical trial was carried out to evaluate the probiotic complex ability on mood and sleep quality during Covid-19 pandemic. A total of 33 volunteers (healthy workers) were randomly assigned into two groups, with an inverted administration of KeepCalm (4B CFU/day) and placebo for 30 days each, with a 4-week intermediate wash-out. The efficacy on stress response, in terms of mood and sleep quality, were assessed using The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Profile of Mood State (POMS) questionnaires. Results showed that both questionnaires reported a significant improvement of mood and sleep in the active group while the placebo perceived a worsening of their status and quality of sleep. Another clinical trial is about to be published highlighting the beneficial effect of KeepCalm on the management of post-partum period.

KeepCalm is an easy to formulate probiotic complex, thanks to its lower dosage of 4B/day (2B/strain), it can be declined in several delivery forms according to the target population is intended to address the finish product.
