The Sami-Sabinsa Group, which manufactures and markets phytonutrients and standardised herbal extracts, specialty fine chemicals and organic intermediates used in the nutritional, cosmeceutical and food industries worldwide, has expanded into the information technology and business solutions sector under the brand name Edkal Technologies.

Dr Muhammed Majeed, founder & Chairman, Sami-Sabinsa Group, formed Edkal Technologies in 2005 to provide IT services to the group companies, with a few external clients.

In early 2018, Edkal began its expansion into a global IT service by opening a US development services and support centre in addition to the Bangalore, India operation.

Edkal offers digital engineering, cloud computing, enterprise business applications, process automation and analytics in pharmaceuticals and life sciences sectors, extending into financial and manufacturing domains.

Mr Satyajit Bandyopadhyay, a leader with proven success in strategic positioning for digital platform engineering, application R&D in IT services and manufacturing industries, involving both start-up and growth organisations, joins Edkal Technologies as the CEO and Director.

“I am honoured to join Edkal Technologies and have developed a deep appreciation for the Sami-Sabinsa Group’s culture of innovation,” said Mr Bandyopadhyay.

“I look forward to working with the entire team to achieve a leadership position in IP leveraged automation and development in the digital world.”

“The group has leveraged the most from the solutions offered by Edkal,” said Dr Majeed.

“For example, Sami Direct, the direct selling arm of the group, has benefited extremely from the digital engineering and automation solutions offered by Edkal. The process automation installed at Sami Direct has reduced the operative costs and increased both, speed and reliability of task implementation, growth and support. We look forward to providing similar solutions to other organisations.”

He further adds: “I am happy to have Satyajit Bandyopadhyay on the leadership team with his decades of experience and proven track record of spearheading revenue growth while achieving the highest level of customer satisfaction.”
