A&B Ingredients will distribute Mediterranean Umami

Salt of the Earth has appointed A&B Ingredients Inc. as its exclusive distributor of Mediterranean Umami for the US and Canadian markets.

This is the second distribution agreement signed in 2017 as Salt of the Earth builds the global sales infrastructure for its all-natural and clean-label ingredient for reducing salt intake in processed foods.

Mediterranean Umami is an all-natural ingredient designed for clean label sodium reduction and enhancing a great umami flavour profile.

Based upon a proprietary blend of vegetable extracts and sea salt, it allows for significantly reduced sodium – up to 45% in various food products.

With Mediterranean Umami, food manufacturers can eliminate use of MSG and yeast extracts. Being on-trend and highly effective, it was recently awarded an IFT17 Food Expo Innovation Award at this year’s Institute of Food Technologists annual meeting.

"We are excited to partner with A&B Ingredients for the US and Canadian markets,” says Dovik Tal, CEO for Salt of the Earth.

“There is a strong demand for sodium reduction and natural products in these large and dynamic markets, with increasing regulation from both the FDA and Health Canada to support sodium reduction."

"A&B Ingredients has a unique focus on clean-label solutions combined with strong technical support and competence, making them a natural choice for this partnership. We hope to offer Mediterranean Umami to new clients that seek natural sodium reduction solutions and flavor enhancement.”

“Mediterranean Umami is a groundbreaking ingredient delivering an incredible umami flavor profile while being all-natural and clean-label, allowing food companies to develop tastier and healthier products,” notes Gil Bakal, CEO for A&B Ingredients.

“It is a perfect fit for our product portfolio and market focus. We are looking forward to working with the team at Salt of the Earth to bring this product to the market.”
